You can run but you can not hide

The night before I stayed until late to watch on TV a Bulgarian movie from 1982. When was the previous time I saw it? 10 years ago? Or was it 20? Seems like a lifetime ago (and in a way it is so). Funny thing memory is, deceiving. I enjoyed watching the movie again but all of a sudden the recent image of the lead actor as I saw him in the news a few years ago flashed through my mind and…let’s say hasn’t aged beautifully and I felt great sadness that a face once so innocent could get so ruined by experience. And then I remembered the first time I saw that movie-at a sea resort, with my parents. I was 9 years old. The weight of all the years in between fell on me, crushingly.

iO - Libre!

I’ve been after this track (piece? well, it is definitely not a song) for almost a decade after hearing it one morning on MTV’s Chill Out Zone. But try to google an artist named “iO”! Is it a regular or a capital “i”? And is the “O” a letter or a digit? And is the title “Libre” or “Libre!”? The tracks led to James Lavelle’s record label Mo’ Wax and kind of ended there and until recently the only upload of the track on YouTube was with a very poor sound. Today I gave it another try just to discover to my delight that in the meantime some kind soul has uploaded a very fine audio quality version and now I can listen to it whenever I want:

This morning a neighbour saw me climbing up the stairs to the second floor carrying Vincent in my arms:

“Why do you carry him? Is he sick or something?”

“No; he’s just old and stairs are hard for him.”

“How old is he?”

“15.”

“Oh, dear, now each day is like a gift for him.”

I know it is for me but I wish she didn’t put it that way.

Hmm, that sounds so…delicious

I might buy the album after all.



btw, some of the tracks from the Autolux's new album have "Sonic Youth" written all over. Nothing wrong with that of course. I just wonder if anyone else will notice.
