"cynical" is just another word for "realistic"

A Facebook friend just posted "All milk is white, all blood is red, and all people have souls."

Not all people, my dear wishful-thinking friend. I love you and for the sake of this world I too wish that was true but it just isn't. Maybe all newborns have souls, I guess that much is true. But then they grow up, life happens and makes a mess of the good intentions. I've seen it too many times to hold any illusions. All lives are sacred... until they prove themselves unworthy.

My point is that turning a blind eye on the truth doesn't make it go away.
