Associative

A true story a friend told me a few days ago.
A decade and some ago a Mexican guy came to Sofia to study medicine. He barely spoke Bulgarian. One evening he and his Korean roommate (whose knowledge of Bulgarian was equally poor) went to the supermarket to buy chicken meat. As it happened at the time no one of them knew the Bulgarian word for “chicken”. What to do? The best they could come up with was to take an egg and present it to the shop-assistant with the words “We’re looking for the egg’s mother”.
